My son’s journey has been extraordinary and, at times, unexpectedly challenging. He was officially diagnosed as gifted and ended up skipping high school altogether, heading straight to college. While I was incredibly proud, this leap also presented unique hurdles that I wasn’t fully prepared for as a parent. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is how important it is to understand that gifted kids often feel different from their peers. Depending on how advanced they are, they might experience loneliness, even if they don’t express it directly. In the teen years, this can lead to a lot of stress and worry.
